KUCHING: The Public Works Department (PWD) has clarified that a video claiming to be a mud flood incident at Bukit Begunan in the state is fake.
“PWD Sarawak is aware of the video purportedly showing mud flooding an area in Bukit Begunan, Pan Borneo Highway.
“As a result of the investigation, PWD would like to state that the incident did not happen anywhere along Sarawak’s Pan Borneo Highway,” it said in a statement today.
The department also urged the public not to spread unverified information or videos which would cause anxiety or panic.
Meanwhile, the actual mudslide incident took place in Terengganu on Dec 18 due to heavy rainfall.
East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) in a Facebook post on Dec 18 said there was a mud flood incident at KM393 (southbound) between Ajil and Bukit Besi in Terengganu.
