KUCHING: There is no need to worry or panic over the presence of a Chinese patrol ship in Beting Patinggi Ali, said Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency Sarawak Region director First Admiral (Maritime) Robert Teh Geok Chuan.

When contacted, Teh said the Chinese vessel was there, the maritime agency was also present along with the Malaysian Royal Navy.

He was responding to queries and reports voiced by the people who were worried over the presence of the Chinese vessel in the area.

Teh added that the patrol vessel from China did not disturb them nor the Malaysian fishing boats in the area and the maritime was present to monitor them.

We look at them, they look at us, so no issue, he said. Teh said the patrol vessel has been there for ages and they were there too.

As our leaders are on talking terms, it is good as both sides know where we stand, he added.
