No new case; status quo remains

KUCHING: Since Sarawak recorded zero new Covid-19 cases today (Sept 23), the total number of cases remained at 703.

This was announced by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily press statement on Wednesday.

The SDMC revealed one new recovery; the case had been discharged from Sibu Hospital. This brought the  cumulative total recoveries and discharge cases to 681 or 96.87 percent.

“Three reported cases are still receiving treatment at isolation wards in Bintulu Hospital, Sungai Buloh Hospital and Sarawak General Hospital.

“No Covid-19 patient is being treated in an intensive care unit (ICU),” it added.

The committee also revealed 11 new person under investigations (PUI) cases  and two cases which were awaiting laboratory test results.

Meanwhile, the Alam Cluster in Bintulu remained active with eight cases.

Yesterday, 19 new persons under surveillance (PUS)  registered at designated hotels for quarantine, bringing the total number of people under quarantine at 11 designated hotels in Sarawak to 646.

“24,378 PUS cases have been discharged from quarantine,” added the committee.
