KUCHING: No Covid-19 positive case was reported in Sarawak yesterday, the first time since the disease was detected in the state in mid-March.
The total number of positive cases to date remains at 523.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said there were 19 recoveries and they have been discharged from hospital.
“Of these cases, eighteen were from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and one is from Miri Hospital,” it said in a statement on the daily Covid-19 updates yesterday.
It said 61 more person under investigation (PUI) cases were recorded and 95 PUI cases are still awaiting laboratory test results.
“From that number 49 PUIs are from Kuching, one from Samarahan, five more Miri, three from Bau, and one each from Serian, Bintulu and Betong,” SDMC said.
On Sarawakians returning from overseas and other states, it said there are 39 more person under surveillance (PUS) cases and they have been transported to the designated hotels for quarantine.
“A total of six individuals have completed the quarantine period and were allowed to return to their respective homes,” it said.
To date, a total of 3,001 PUS cases were recorded, with 1,968 placed at the respective hotels in Kuching, 595 in Miri, 56 in Bintulu, 150 in Limbang and 232 in Sibu.
On the public’s compliance with the movement control order (MCO), it remained at 97.3 per cent and police have arrested 19 individuals for flouting the MCO in the last 24 hours.
Since the enforcement of the MCO on March 18, a total of 2,023 individuals have been arrested and 1,363 were charged in court.
