BINTULU: All households in the Kakus constituency have received food aid under the Sarawakku Sayang economic package.
Assistant Minister in Chief Minister’s office (Law and Native Customs), Datuk John Sikie Tayai said the final delivery of the aid was to 772 doors/head of households at Sungai Duan/Jalan Bukut, Pengkalan Lobang, Bawan, Begeri and Bukit Dinding on Saturday.
He thanked all those involved in the food aid distribution which started on April 3 until April 11.
“Your tireless efforts are greatly appreciated and especially when the state and country are facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
“With such a large area there are various challenges faced during the relief work, with over 400 longhouses from the Tatau District administration area and some from the Mukah and Selangau District administration areas — however, through the hard work, the aid was finally sent to all 6,900 heads of household in Kakus constituency,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Sikie also expressed his appreciation to the staffs of Kakus Service Centre, Tatau Distric Office, Selangau District Office, Mukah District Office, IPD Tatau, Bomba, Tatau/Bintulu Community Welfare Department and community leaders who helped with the distribution of the food aid.
“On this occasion, I also thank all frontline officers who serve in Kakus constituency — including staff and security personnel from Ministry of Health (MOH), who have worked hard to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Finally, please stay home and obey the instructions by MOH and security personnel. May the country be able to curb the virus, and let us be responsible for maintaining Tatau as a green/ covid-free zone,” he added.
