MUKAH: It is still business as usual for suppliers and wholesalers of essential goods here amid floods in several parts of Sarawak that have rendered many roads inaccessible.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Mukah chief Salihin Den said there was no problem so far with regard to suppliers and wholesalers delivering goods to Mukah town, Matu bazaar and several other areas.

“Our routine checks and monitoring on selected retailers or designated district retailers (DDR) here also found that they have a lot of stock and is sufficient,” he told the media via WhatsApp on Thursday (Dec 14).

He was responding to a question on the possibility of supplies being interrupted if roads were inaccessible due to floods.

Salihin added that the ministry also allowed traders to keep more stock than permitted in their licence, while always monitoring the supply of essential goods in the market.
