KUCHING: Sarawak has yet to receive any reports related to floods, landslides or storms caused by the northeast monsoon, as of 4pm today (Nov 12).
According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) secretariat, the Civil Defence Force (APM) has conducted on-site monitoring at 28 locations across the state.
The monitoring revealed a rise in river water levels at Jelutong Barat, Sungai Nyelong waterfront in Sarikei, though it remains below an alarming level.
In other districts, river water levels are reported to be normal, with some areas, including Meradong, Julau, Belaga, and Daro, showing a decline in water levels.
A total of 35 APM personnel were actively involved in the monitoring operation from 8 am to 4 pm, utilising 15 logistics in the process.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia) recently forecasted that the northeast monsoon season commenced on Nov 11 and is expected to persist until March of the following year.
Authorities will continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure the safety and well-being of the community in light of the anticipated weather conditions.
