KUCHING: The district of Kuching needs to be on high alert following the 29 Covid-19 cases reported on Sunday (Feb 21).
“There are 11 cases as a result of contact tracing of the earlier sporadic cases who came forward to health clinics to be tested,” said Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.
“…and I was made to understand that a new cluster will emerge from this contact tracing,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday.
Dr Sim, who is also Local Government and Housing Minister, added that the 29 cases reflected community spread in Kuching.
“The 11 cases reported on Feb 21 involved persons with no symptoms and one case with symptoms.
“As usual, the next step would be to carry out contact tracing on these cases.”
Dr Sim urged everyone to stop the spread of the virus, and continue to observe standard operating procedure guidelines.
“Please love yourself, your family, colleagues, friends, and Sarawak. We cannot be complacent and must be on high alert at all times.
“Vaccines have arrived in Malaysia. We want you to be alive so you can get vaccinated rather than lose you forever. Together, we shall win our war against Covid-19.”
