MUKAH: Head of the Ministry of Domestic Trade (KPDN) Mukah Branch Salihin Den revealed that based on the results of the inspection, there was no shortage of chicken supply in Mukah and the supply of chicken eggs had also been found to be sufficient so far.
He said inspections to ensure traders comply with these instructions had been carried out every day at the main premises in Mukah and the government has implemented the Price Determination of Chicken and Chicken Eggs (PHMATA) on 12 October 2022 until a date to be notified as has been gazetted.
“Super and standard round chicken supplies are found to be sold at the main premises and the price also does not exceed the control price as in PHMATA. For information, the round chicken supply in Mukah is obtained from a wholesaler from Sibu and the round chicken supply comes every day.
“For chicken eggs, in addition to having the option to get grade A, B and C chicken eggs, consumers also have other options to buy chicken eggs such as Omega, DHA, Kampung and Selenium.
“The supply of chicken eggs in Mukah is also obtained from Sibu with a supply frequency of four times a week and a supplier from Kuching with a supply frequency of twice a week,” he said in a statement yesterday.
He said to ensure the supply of goods, especially chicken, chicken eggs and cooking oil, the KPDN had launched Ops ATM Phase 2 and Ops Terjah since 16 December 2022.
“Ops Terjah was launched with the aim of identifying the current supply and price of controlled items and ensuring that the availability of supplies, especially national food items, is always sufficient and easily obtained by consumers at a reasonable price at all times.
“In that, a total of 53 premises were inspected and monitored throughout Ops Terjah which was carried out until yesterday to identify the issue of supply and price of basic goods in the Mukah Division.
“Additionally, in addition to the supply of chicken and chicken eggs, inspections are also carried out on the supply of sugar, cooking oil and wheat flour, which are sufficient for the time being,” he explained.
He also hoped that consumers would not make panic purchases because the supply of chicken eggs would always be there every day to meet the supply in Mukah.
“Panic buying can disrupt the supply of eggs in the market. Our party is always on the ground to ensure that basic necessities are sufficient.
“So far, there have been no complaints from the public regarding the supply or price of chicken and chicken eggs in Mukah.
“The public can and are encouraged to help the KPDN if they suspect that hiding activities are taking place by channelling complaints (if any) through the office line; 084-872726, Email; e-aduan@kpdnhep.gov.my and WhatsApp application (019-2794317 / 019-8488000),” he said.
