SRI AMAN: The English language can be used in Sarawak including in official state government affairs, assured Datuk Snowdan Lawan.
According to a statement by UKAS, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts said no problems will arise from state civil servants using the language.
“This is important because English language is an intermediary language used by various parties at the international level,” he emphasised when officiating at the 10th Anniversary Roadshow of the Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS) at Seri Simanggang Hotel Yesterday (June 18).
On the event, Snowdan who is also TEGAS Treasurer, noted that it was established on Feb 28, 2012, as a platform to promote technical and vocational education and expose the public to career opportunities in the technical field.
“In 2017, TEGAS was entrusted by the Premier to lead the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), entrepreneurship, and digital innovation in order to develop Sarawak’s ecosystem.
“From there on, various programmes were held. One of the programmes that has made an impact is the Project Of Dream Realised Roadshow (PRO-Dr) where youths have the opportunity to explore various educational options and educational assistance facilities in rural areas,” he said.
