MUKAH: The non-stop bus service offered by City Public Link has resumed operation after a 20-year hiatus, aiming to alleviate transportation challenges faced by the local population.
Foo Boon Ling, Chief Accountant of City Public Link, stated that this service was reintroduced in response to the community’s demand in Mukah.
“We have listened to their requests and are dedicated to fulfilling the transportation needs of the community, similar to the services provided in Kuching, Serian, Kota Samarahan, and Bintulu.
“This initiative not only benefits the residents of Mukah but also individuals residing outside the city and students attending higher education institutions such as Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Mukah and Polytechnic Mukah (PMU), among others,” he explained during a brief speech at the inauguration ceremony of the service at Mukah Bus Terminal held yesterday.
He said that two buses are in operation, shuttling between Mukah and Balingian, as well as Mukah and Dalat.
“There are two daily trips to each destination, ensuring accessibility for all residents here.
“We believe that this service will bring about positive changes, enhance transportation connectivity, and provide convenience for the people of Mukah,” he said.
Simultaneously, he expressed hope that this service would bridge gaps, foster community connections, and enhance the overall quality of life in the Mukah area.
Sazali Morshidi, the bus service manager, disclosed that the current fare prices align with the predetermined rates.
“However, we are actively seeking a subsidy for the RM1 fare and eagerly awaiting a decision from the government.
“We trust that the government will also contribute to the success of this service, thus alleviating the transportation burden, especially for those in need,” he stated.
He also acknowledged the support received from State Assembly Member Tellian Royston Valentine for this service.
