(Part 2)

“I need to get out of here before it’s too late,” Thora concluded, exiting the bathroom.

“Some readings can be wrong, you know?” Erica tried comforting Thora when they were driving back to their rented apartment.

“I know, but could it?”

“Yes,” Erica assured her.

“Do you know what I’ve seen?”

“No. What?”

“A line that warned me of my murder,” Thora said monotonously.

“That doesn’t decide your fate, that’s vandalism. You have a bright future ahead and death is upon everyone. It is just a matter of time. Everyone gets closer to death every day,” Erica explained after pulling into a parking spot.

“Thank you for trying to make me feel better but it creeps me out,” Thora admitted when they walked towards the elevator and got into an empty one. “I want to put all that behind me, but aside from that experience, it was a good day.”

“Thank you for agreeing to accompany me. I wouldn’t go there if I was alone.”

“It was no problem,” Thora looked into a black plastic bag and took out a key ring with the photo of both of them when they were children. “I got this for you.”

“Oh wow,” Erica inspected the key ring. “I love this photo so much. Thank you.”

“So shall we eat the overnight pizza or order food online?”

“Let’s finish the pizza. After all, we will be leaving tomorrow,” Erica reasoned.

They heated up the pizza and watched a comedy film while eating. After a relaxing shower, they said goodnight and were ready to hit the sack. Thora was looking forward to go home as she missed her own bed and her pets. At the thought of this, she smiled. She took a quick shower and read in bed.

As she was reading, a tree-like shadow on the wall caught her attention. She put down her book and kept an eye on it for a few seconds. When it didn’t move, she continued reading. When her eyes felt heavy, she closed the book and turned her attention to the swaying shadow on the wall.

“Maybe it’s just a tree,” Thora thought to herself and closed her eyes.

The rustle of plastic bags woke Thora in the middle of the night, and she listened to it. It sounded as if someone was rummaging through her suitcase. She had already packed her belongings and left it at the corner of the bedroom. All the sudden she remembered the psychic’s warning about the dark entity. Thora’s heart raced, her stomach felt queasy and she broke out in cold sweat when she saw a huge figure by her suitcase. It got up slowly, headed towards the door and disappeared into thin air.

Seeing such phenomena, Thora tried to come up with an explanation of what she saw but failed to do so. She waited for a few minutes and when nothing happened, she went back to sleep. That was when she heard a deep growl. She opened her eyes to see a dark figure with a long face moving towards her. Her heartbeat thumped loudly in her ears as she pretended to be asleep.  When she opened her eyes, hair stood up on the back of her neck as the figure hovered over her. She closed her eyes and prayed like never before.

“Wake up, sleepy head,” Erica bounced on her bed the next morning.

“Was it a dream?”

“What dream?”

Thora sat up quickly and looked at her surroundings. Her suitcase was where she left it. She looked out the window to see that it was impossible for a shadow to form on her wall as they were staying on the seventh floor.

“Did you come into my room last night?”

“No. I slept like a baby. Why?”

“What about sleep walking?”

“I don’t do that. If you’re talking about teeth grinding, snoring and talking in my sleep then yes, I do all that. Is this place haunted?”

“I don’t think we should talk about it here because they can hear us,” Thora whispered. “I had a horrible night. We should get ready to leave as there’s something about this apartment. Darkness lives here.”

“Now that is nonsense,” Erica argued and continued, “I didn’t feel or see anything.”

In less than an hour, they left the apartment without having breakfast. As Thora closed the door behind her, she saw the long face dark figure by the sofa. Goosebumps formed, and she raced to the elevator with Erica while pulling her suitcase along. They drove away from the apartment building and went for breakfast elsewhere.

“That apartment is haunted,” Thora informed Erica when they were waiting for their food.  “We will never go back there. That could be the entity the psychic was talking about.”

“What did you see? Tell me.”

Thora told Erica about her frightful night of seeing something out of the ordinary. Ever since that experience, Thora believed in the supernatural as she always thought they were just made up stories and lies to scare people.
