BAU: Five members of a family were left with nothing but the clothes on their back after their two-storey house in Kampung Stenggang here, was completely destroyed by fire today (Apr 2).
No injuries or casualties were reported in the 12.32pm incident as a married couple managed to evacuate to safety while, their daughters were not present at the time of the incident.
Firefighters from Bau station rushed to the scene near SK St Teresa after receiving an emergency call.
Upon arrival, the house was still on fire and they performed the extinguishing deed using water from a nearby fire hydrant.
The fire was brought under control at 1.15pm and overhaul works were carried out to ensure that there is no risk of reignition.
Aside from the house, two motorcycles and a car were also destroyed in the afternoon blaze.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
