SRI AMAN: Former Parti Keadilan Rakyat candidate for Sri Aman, Norina handed over a donation of RM9,000 to the management committee of St. Luke’s Church here, yesterday.
The donation was divided into three parts – RM5,000 to St. Luke’s Church Women’s Federation (WF), RM3,000 for the Diocesan Women Fellowship (DWF) and RM1,000 to the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of SK St Luke.
At the dinner organised by the WF of St. Luke’s Church at Dewan Suarah here, Norina said that the donation given could be used to carry out their activities.
“Despite the inadequate contribution, I believe it is enough to cover their initial expenses.
“Although I am yet to be an elected representative, I remain focused and will continue to look after the welfare of the people regardless of race or religion,” Norani said.
She added that the people should also support the new government’s effort to develop as well as to prepare various facilities for the people.
The church institution plays a very important role in the rural areas, she said, in forming a young generation that is well-behaved with clear life goals.
“The church institution is capable in uniting the community because of its teachings which emphasise on racial unity and harmony. I want to see progress in spiritual activities among the rural people, regardless of religion,” she said.
About 1,000 guests were present at the dinner organised by the WF of St. Luke’s Church.
