LAWAS: The Sarawak government is set to kickstart two major development projects in Limbang, Lawas – the Northern Coastal Highway project and the construction of the new Lawas airport.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that these initiatives are part of the government’s concerted efforts to promote balanced development throughout the state, with a particular focus on the northern regions.

During the MYSED Go Rural and Youth Entrepreneur Setup 2024 Programme at the Multipurpose Hall of Kampung Awat-Awat, Sundar recently, Awang Tengah disclosed the plans for the highway, which will be divided into five sections, and the commencement of the first phase of the new Lawas airport this year.

“The government is committed to accelerating development in Limbang and Lawas Divisions through the Sabah Sarawak Link Road (SSLR), avoiding Brunei Darussalam. This will facilitate cross-border trade, attract investments, and create opportunities for small and medium enterprises,” he stated.
