KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) secretary-general Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has clarified that there is no any intention for him and PBB vice president Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah to jeopardise the harmony in the party.

Referring to his views and the views of Abdul Karim on the acceptance of Palestinian refugees to the state, he said they were solely expressing their own statements on the issue and did not mean to create any conflict.

“For me personally, we have our views because we are serious in this matter. But then, when it blew up like this, of course we do not want anything worse happening as we never meant to degrade each other.

“Abdul Karim and I are brothers in PBB, what is most important for us is that we protect the leadership especially our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg as president of the party,” he said when receiving a visit from Abdul Karim, at his residence on Friday.

Nanta added that, it was proven that under the leadership of Abang Johari, the state government was doing very well for the people.

“In no way have we any intention to jeopardise the harmony in the party and the state for that matter, so I will want everybody out there, that this is a big no, not going to be a big issue but we appreciate that it is something that it stays that way.

“I realise and recognise that for the benefit of Sarawak, that’s why we all want to express our concern for Sarawak,” he said.

Meanwhile, Abdul Karim confirmed no issues had arisen between him and Nanta.

“We have known each other for so long. In actual fact, we are just like brothers, there is nothing that can strain our relationship.

“The most important part is our part and the wellbeing of our people. We want to have harmonies and tolerance between our multi-racial community.
