KUCHING: The contractor for the Sarawak General Hospital extension project – Weida Works Sdn Bhd and Weida Kayangan Sdn Bhd have clarified that the recent Covid-19 cases identified as Cases 756 and 757 are not their site workers.
“Cases 756 and 757 have contacted us expressing their wish to work at our site,” they explained in a statement to address reports that their contract workers at the SGH work site had tested positive for Covid-19.
The companies said that based on their stringent standard operating procedure (SOP), all potential workers were required to undergo swab tests.
“We only consider such candidates for employment upon issuance of negative results thereafter. However, upon having their tests done at a private hospital, they were subsequently tested as Covid-19 positive.
“We have therefore reported and put these cases into the good hands of the Health Ministry (MoH),” the two companies said in a statement today.
Weida Works Sdn Bhd and Weida Kayangan Sdn Bhd assured the public that they were undertaking all necessary measures to ensure the wellbeing of their workers and the community at large.
