KUCHING: A political analyst says now is not the time to talk about the Deputy Prime Minister’s (DPM) post as it will not impact what is happening in the country currently.

“They should think about how to manage the country. There are so many problems faced by the rakyat…address these problems, specifically on the rising cost of living.

“Don’t just promise to help the rakyat when election nears,” said Universiti Malaysia Sarawak lecturer Dick Lembang Dugun.

“Otherwise, this government is yet another failed government,” he said today.

Lembang was asked for his thoughts on Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan insisting that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob promise Perikatan Nasional (PN) the DPM post before his appointment as Prime Minister last August.

He said the government should show more concern for the rakyat during this current economic conditions.

“Don’t always play politics…come out with solutions. Don’t take the rakyat for granted. The government must be accountable to any plan or policy they implement.

“No need to talk about the DPM post, it is meaningless. It doesn’t affect what’s happening in the country now.

“It only affects the expenditure of government. How much of the people’s money is needed to pay the salary of this DPM?”
