TALK OF DAP LEADERS LEAVING COUNTRY
KUCHING: Democratic Action Party (DAP) veteran leader Lim Kit Siang yesterday refuted insinuations that the party’s leaders would leave the country amidst rumours that a new government would be formed without DAP in it.
He was commenting on a previous day’s social media posting showing a photograph of him at an airport. The heading insinuated that he was going to run away from the country together with leaders of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Parti Amanah Negara (PAN).
He explained that he was at Penang Airport the previous night waiting for his flight to Kuala Lumpur to attend P Gunasegaram’s court case yesterday.
“The question of running away from Malaysia was never in my mind,” he said.
“DAP leaders are not thieves, robbers or rogues, but are dedicated and patriotic Malaysians who want to stop the country from becoming a kleptocratic state.”
He said this in a statement just hours before attending the DAP emergency Central Executive Committee meeting at noon yesterday.
“The meeting will discuss the extraordinary political developments in the country and we should wait for the outcome of the meeting,” he said.
The Iskandar Puteri MP stated that the ‘Save Malaysia’ mission was still very valid and relevant today.
The same statement added, “There are attempts to carry out a coup against the decision of Malaysian voters in the 14th general election on May 9, 2018 by forming a back-door government which will negate the promises of Pakatan Harapan.”
