KUCHING: A musical, “De Musical Theatre of Laila Majnun,” will take place here on Nov 23-24.
In a press release Sang Rawi Production said the captivating musical will bring to life the timeless and tragic love story of two lovers – Laila and Qaish – whose deep passion transcends all obstacles.
“This quintessential story explores the challenges of everlasting love, marked by obstacles, societal pressures and sacrifices.
“As society stands against their relationship, Laila succumbs to the pain of love sickness, while Qaish, driven by his intense affection, is accused of madness.
“The story will unfold through captivating music, heartfelt performances, and artistic elements that stir profound emotions,” it said.
Sang Rawi added that “De Musical Theatre of Laila Majnun” will also serve as a vital platform for local talent to shine.
“This production features a cast of incredibly gifted local actors, dancers, and musicians from Sarawak, delivering performances that are both profound and emotionally resonant.
“It not only provides them with the opportunity to showcase their skills but also strengthens the development of the theatre and arts industry in Sarawak.
“Through this musical, the community can come together to celebrate and support homegrown talent while fostering a vibrant cultural landscape,” it added.
The musical will be staged at the Auditorium Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah, Sekolah Seni Malaysia Sarawak (SSeM) with the performance scheduled to begin at 8pm.
