KUCHING: Love was in the air as New Sarawak Tribune’s Clement Erik Wong married his sweetheart, Lola Eliza Saban yesterday.
The wedding ceremony was held in the city and was witnessed by about 50 family members, relatives and close friends.
Erik, 30, started his career with the New Sarawak Tribune in late 2019 as a journalist. He hails from Tenom, Sabah and is of mixed Chinese heritage. He climbed up the ranks and is currently the online desk editor and video producer.
Meanwhile, Lola, who is the same age as Erik, is a Bidayuh Salako from Lundu. She is a publication officer at Sarawak Timber Association. The two were engaged last year.
Their love story started in 2015 when the pair were studying at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) when Erik studied at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT) while Lola studied at the Faculty of Resource Science and Technology (FRST).
When Erik left the university in early 2019 and returned home to Sabah, the pair remained inseparable and were reunited when the former returned to work in Kuching later that year.
Also attending the ceremony were NST Editor-in-Chief, Aden Nagrace and Senior Manager, Corporate Business Development, Dorge Rajah.
