KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 case today, with the total number of cases in the state remaining at 552.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that 13 new cases had recovered and been discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) today.
“Thus far, the total number of Covid-19 cases which have recovered and been discharged is 499, or 90.4 per cent,” he said at the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) daily Covid-19 press conference today.
He said that 72 new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases had been reported today and 428 cases were still pending laboratory results, adding that the 428 cases included 339 persons-under-surveillance (PUS) at Belawai.
On the active case detection operation at Belawai, Tanjung Manis, he said that 339 residents had been screened from 55 houses visited, with all 339 samples sent to SGH.
As of today, there were 35 cases undergoing treatment at hospitals, with one in intensive care unit (ICU) and one requiring breathing assistance.
Meanwhile, he reported that 6,629 applications for inter-district movement had been received at 28 Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) headquarters throughout Sarawak today, bringing the cumulative total to 82,759 applications.
“Of this total, 75,394 have been approved and 7,365 have been rejected,” said Uggah, who is also SDMC chairman.
He also said that 1,897 locations had been monitored today by the surveillance team consisting of 720 members, including supermarkets (352), restaurants (381), factories (34), banks (161), government offices (91), hawkers (23), public markets (114), places of worship (105), recreational places (49), construction sites (23), and others (564).
Thirty-one arrests were made today for violating the conditional movement control order (CMCO).
“Thirty-one members of the public were compounded for trying to cross districts without a police permit, bringing the total to 128 compounded since May 19,” he said.
He informed that as of today, the Ministry of Local Government and Housing had received 22,798 business and industry notifications.
On digital surveillance, he said that as of yesterday the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) had reported 21,263 entries into Sarawak, including Sarawakians.
“Of this total, 11,224 have been entered into quarantine centres (hotels), 9,126 have been given Stay Home Notices (home quarantine), 599 have been exempted as they were essential services, and 314 have been sent to quarantine centres as PUIs,” Uggah said.
Meanwhile, he said that 87 PUS had been checked into hotels today to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS in 38 hotels statewide to 612 while 12,187 PUS had completed their quarantine period.
