INTER-DISTRICT TRAVEL
KUCHING: The number of police roadblocks and personnel to enforce the inter-district travel in Sarawak effective Aug 1 has not been confirmed yet.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said that the matter would be decided at a roadblock coordination meeting today (July 28).
“Sarawak police will implement roadblocks in certain locations but they have not been confirmed yet.
“To date, there are only five active roadblocks throughout Sarawak — Lundu, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu,” he told when asked about the implementation of inter-district travel in the state effective Aug 1.
On preparations by the district police headquarters (IPDs) or police stations to receive the general public requesting permission to travel, Aidi said that the police was ready to control the presence of the public like before.
“This includes providing a suitable place or tent for them to wait as well as allocating seats to enforce social distancing and other standard operating procedures (SOPs),” he explained.
He advised those applying for inter-district travel to make appointments by phone.
