KUCHING: Both Sarawak and Indonesia will receive economic gains with the latter’s move to relocate its capital city to Nusantara in West Kalimantan.
Indonesia Consulate General in Kuching Raden Sigit Watjaksono said his country is looking forward to collaborating in various potential fields with Sarawak with the relocation.
“The distance between Kalimantan and Sarawak is very close, this would be beneficial for both governments. Therefore, there are a lot of benefits to be reaped and (good) relations that can be formed.
“As Nusantara is still being developed in terms of its infrastructure, we are looking forward to form better and continuous relations with the Sarawak government,” said Raden.
He said this during a press conference after his delegation paid a courtesy call to Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah at her office yesterday (July 14).
Raden said among the key sectors that Indonesia is keen to collaborate on with Sarawak is the energy sector.
“Other that that, we see there are other fields such as building infrastructures, education, agriculture and many more.
“We look forward to this when Nusantara is completed,” said Raden.
