KUCHING: Flood victims in Batu Kitang are urged to observe the standard operating procedures (SOPs) during their stay at temporary relief centres.

Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang advised flood victim who could stay at homestay residences or relatives’ houses to do so.

“We want to provide a conducive and safe environment for the victims. If you can stay at home, please do so because of the Covid-19,” he said during his visits to flood victims at the Batu Kitang Jaya community hall here.

Cramping the temporary shelters would put themselves in danger, he pointed out.

“In previous incidents, all flood victims were cramped and this serves as a reminder for family members of the flood victims to practise social distancing to avoid the transmission of the virus,”  added Lo.
