KUCHING: Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp (OCBC) is prepared to assist Sarawak’s in its sustainable development framework.
Group chief executive officer Helen Wong said the bank is active in aiding clients toward green financing.
“Sarawak’s commitment towards a sustainable development agenda is a significant initiative, and we are very active in assisting clients to move towards green financing,” she said.
She was speaking to reporters after paying a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johori Tun Openg at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex yesterday (Nov 20).
Wong said OCBC allocated a sum of SGD52 billion for sustainability efforts in September last year..
“Our involvement therefore aligns with Sarawak’s renewable energy agenda,” she added.
Among those present were Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Datuk Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, OCBC Malaysia chief executive officer Tan Chor Sen and OCBC Malaysia chairman Tan Ngiap Joo.
OCBC is the second largest financial service group in Singapore.
