BALAI RINGIN: Oil palm smallholders should take the opportunity to learn new technology for mass production of palm fruits.

Balai Ringin assemblyman Datuk Snowdan Lawan adopting new technology will not only assist the farmers to optimise the use of land, but also to preserve the environment.

He was speaking during National Initiatives for Sustainable and Climate-Smart Oil Palm Smallholders (NI-SCOPS) programme in Balai Ringin on Sunday (Aug 20).

“This training-based programme is for all the oil palm smallholders, and the purpose is to emphasise innovative solutions apart from ensuring the sustainable oil palm production.

“The government is always aware of the issues faced by the people in rural areas and we are ready to help,” he said.

On another note, he said the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) in his constituency and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) should assist the local community, especially when it comes to farming.

“Other benefits that these farmers will get other than improving their revenue source are not only the preservation of the environment, but also improved agriculture practices,” he added.
