KUCHING: Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng (SHNST) received a generous contribution in the form of food items from the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kuching branch.

The aid consists of 100 bags of 10-kilogramme white rice and 20 boxes of crackers.

SUPP Kuching branch’s deputy chairman Bong Lian Huan said the contribution is part of its efforts to help the community.

“SHNST is a charitable institution which serves the people within Kuching city irrespective of race or religion,” he said during a simple handover ceremony at SHNST’s Datuk Seri Tay Thian Siong Charity Hall today.

“We do whatever we can to help the community. There are approximately 37 residents in the nursing home.

“Our chairwoman and previous local representatives have worked very closely with SHNST, so we see them as part of our responsibility given that it is also located in our area (Padungan),” he said, adding that SHNST is currently helping about 300 needy people.
