SIBURAN: Those who said Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is “an old wine in a new bottle” are acknowledging that GPS is wise enough to lead Sarawak.
Native Land Development Assistant Minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn said that as wine ages over time, it gets better and becomes more expensive and the same goes for GPS, which has all the experiences and knowledge it needs to rule Sarawak in the political scene.
“Thank you for saying that we are an old wine in a new bottle. But don’t forget Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Lim Guan Eng have been in politics for a long time too, and you say they are new blood? I don’t think so,” he said during the GPS Flag Rally at Siburan Hall yesterday.
He added that there were no differences and for now, GPS only had one priority that was to reclaim Sarawak’s eroded rights.
“Azizul Adenan, who is the son of the late chief minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem, is here with us to support us in this journey and struggles which have been emphasised by his father,” he pointed out.
He added that Azizul being part of the GPS team was not because of his father’s aspirations, but because he trusted GPS who could fight for a more determined and better future for Sarawak.
“55 years ago, our rights have been eroded without our knowledge and this is our fight to get it back.”
He added that with so many projects cancelled by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, the State government would be using its own funds to ensure that rural areas would not be left out of any development projects.
