KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Deputy Commissioner of Police, Datuk Omar Mammah, 58, is appointed as acting Sabah Commissioner of Police effective yesterday.
He replaced Datuk Ramli Din who was appointed as the Inspector-General of Police Secretariat head (Research and Development) Bukit Aman.
The handover ceremony between Ramli and Omar took place at the Sabah Police Headquarters (IPK) here yesterday, witnessed by Bukit Aman Management Department director, Datuk Seri Asri Yusoff.
Omar, in his speech, promised to maintain the legacy of Ramli’s excellent leadership during his tenure as IPK chief.
“As acting Sabah Commissioner of Police, I will continue the leadership policies outlined by Ramli and in implementing this task, I will be guided by the stipulated principles.
“Therefore, I need the cooperation of all senior officials, Sabah IPK personnel as well as district police chiefs to play their part in continuing all the planned activities,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ramli was confident that Omar was capable of carrying out his duties and responsibilities well because he had a lot of experience in Sabah police.
“He had previously held five positions in the Sabah IPK, and of course, he can make the best possible use of the experience to ensure the Sabah police continue to move forward,” he said. – Bernama
