TEBEDU: The Sarawak government through the State Integrity and Ombudsman Unit (UNION) remains committed to cultivating integrity, especially among Sarawak civil servants and in all levels of society.
In stating this, Tebedu assemblyman said Dr Simon Sinang Bada said with the guidance and strong support of the Sarawak Premier, these efforts, including the integrity roadshow programme, could be held more vigorously throughout the state, he said.
The programme aims to inculcate and cultivate the value of integrity among the people of Sarawak as well as to introduce the role of the Ombudsman.
“One of the main functions of UNION is to manage ombudsman complaints.
“This role is to receive various complaints and suggestions from the public related to the services of government agencies and departments.
“All complaints are scrutinised and investigated based on the International Ombudsman’s practices of confidentiality, independence, informality as well as neutrality and impartiality.”
He said this when officiating at an integrity roadshow programme in Tebedu Community Hall here on Thursday (March 10).
He said the government through the Ombudsman has opened up the widest possible space for the public to give a constructive view on the quality of state public service delivery.
In this regard, he called on citizens to play their roles more objectively, constructively and professionally in order to improve the quality of public services.
“The efforts to spread the value of integrity among the community will continue to be strengthened and it has shown a positive response among the general public,” he said.
He also recalled the Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) by the Premier of Sarawak and all members of the Cabinet last January.
It was government’s commitment to maintain an administration with integrity, free of corruption and to provide the best service to the people.
Also present were UNION director Adana Jed and Serian Resident Officer Tuah Suni.
