KUCHING: Only one person was slapped with a compound recently for not wearing a face mask while out in public.

“The individual, from Betong, was issued a RM1,000 compound,” said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement yesterday (August 30).

To date, enforcement teams have monitored 1,631 premises throughout the state. They comprised restaurants (360), supermarkets (197), banks (104), places of worship (77), public markets (86), government offices (62), leisure places (55), hawker stalls (30), factories (7), construction sites (15) and others (638).

Some 1,802 vehicles were inspected in six Ops Benteng roadblocks in five districts — two in Lundu, and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu.
