BINTULU: An accident today involving two cars along Mile 17, Bintulu-Miri road resulted in one death and one with minor injuries.
A team of eight firemen from Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station, led by PBK II Stephen Plen, was deployed to the scene upon responding to an alert on the crash at 9.05am today.
The collision involved a four-wheel drive (4WD) and a Proton Persona car.
It was reported that the driver of the Proton Persona, identified as Ano Umin, 48, was trapped inside the vehicle following the crash.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel due to serious injuries he sustained.
Meanwhile, one of the four occupants from the 4WD suffered injuries to his head and was taken to Bintulu Hospital.
The actual cause of the crash is not immediately known as investigation is still underway.
