MIRI: A head-on collision on Friday night involving two cars along Miri Bypass road resulted in one death, while leaving the other with minor injuries.
The fatal crash happened nearby Kampung 1 Malaysia at 8.30pm.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said that the deceased has been identified as Saloma Emang, 33, a lecturer in Polytechnic Mukah.
“She died while receiving treatment at Miri Hospital,” he added.
According to Alexson, the crash occurred when a car driven by a 49-year-old man went into the opposite lane and crashed into the deceased’s car.
“The man was heading towards the airport from Pujut when he suddenly went into the opposite lane and crashed onto the female’s car,” he added.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
