BINTULU: A man was burnt to death and his friend suffered injuries in an accident where their vehicle caught fire and got burned at Jalan Pesisir Bintulu-Miri near Shell Oil Station at Jalan Samalaju, yesterday afternoon.

Bintulu Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohammad Meramit, said the victim only known as Ah Heng was without any identity document while his injured friend, Alwi Anak Kemarau, 46, is from Sarikei.

According to Mohamamad, the accident involved a four wheel drive (4WD) that went out of control and rammed into a road divider resulting in the vehicle to turn turtle and subsequently caught fire at the scene.

The deceased was stuck inside the burnt vehicle and as such firemen had to extinguish the fire before removing the body that was stuck to the vehicle.
