BINTULU: A road crash involving a Myvi and Avanza from opposite directions at 22nd Mile Bintulu-Miri Road resulted in one death and two others injured yesterday afternoon.

Head of Bintulu Fire and Rescue Services Department Mohamad Meramit said the deceased had been confirmed as a teenage Chinese girl Carine Chieng, 18 whereas the two injured victims were rushed to the Bintulu Hospital for treatment.

The deceased who was stuck to the seat of her vehicle managed to be taken out by firemen using ‘rescue tool’, he said. Her body was handed over to the police for further action. A total of ten Fire and Rescue personnel were involved in the rescue operation at the accident site.

They were led by Pegawai Bomba Kanan II Pero Guyuh. Also involved were the police and ambulance from the hospital.
