Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Law Poh Kiong said Bomba received an emergency call regarding an accident between a lorry and a four-wheel drive vehicle at 6.56am yesterday.
A team from the Lopeng station rushed to the location.
“One of the victims was pinned to the seat of a two-tonne lorry, and he had to be extricated using special tools. “However, the victim, Huang Pek Sing, who lives in Taman Tunku here, was confirmed by medical personnel to have passed away at the scene,” he said in a statement.
To Law’s knowledge, the victim was en route to Batu Niah from Miri when the lorry he was driving collided with a four-wheel drive pick-up with two occupants in it.
