KUCHING: Only one evacuation centre (PPS) in Serian District remains in operation, and it currently houses 325 flood victims, as of Monday (Jan 18).
A statement from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) and Sarawak Civil Defense Force (APM) said the PPS SK Tanah Puteh was the only one left.
It also said the number of victims was decreasing, an indication that they had returned to their respective homes.
In an earlier report, it was stated that there were two active PPS located at SK Tanah Puteh with 341 victims and Dewan Masyarakat Serian with 74 victims.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued a ‘yellow’ warning for the possibility of heavy rain in Miri namely Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi until Tuesday (Jan 19).
