One new Covid-19 cluster in Serian District

KUCHING: A new cluster — the Pagar Serian Cluster — has emerged in the district of Serian, involving detainees at the Serian Division police station.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said on Thursday (July 8) said of the 38 individuals  tested, 12 foreigners and two locals had Covid-19 while 24 were negative.

“All the infected were admitted to the low-risk treatment centre (PKRC) in Serian for treatment and isolation.”

Meanwhile, the Bunut Cluster in Mukah District has ended after no new cases were detected or reported in the past 28 days.

Enhanced movement control order (EMCO) will also be enforced at two locations.

“Rh Munan, Nanga Bangkit Ulu, Spaoh in Betong will undergo EMCO from July 8 to 21 while the EMCO at Rh Lau  Janting, Batu 20, Jalan Bintulu/Miri in Bintulu is from July 7 to 20.”

SDMC added that EMCO had been lifted at four locations, namely Rh Wing Tutong and Rh Wing, Kampung Guat in Sri Aman District on Thursday.

EMCO was also lifted on Thursday at Rh John, Sungkai Minus Jakar in Sarikei District while Rh Jilap, Batu 6, Jalan Engkamop in Pakan District will end its EMCO on July 9 (Friday).
