BAU: A suspect was arrested while two of his accomplices escaped after they behaved suspiciously along Jalan Bau here, last Monday afternoon.
Police on patrol duty received information from members of the public that they saw three men behind an empty house and were about to climb into the house at about 1.30 pm.
Upon arrival at the scene, police saw the trio on three motorcycles but when they saw the police arriving, the trio fled in different directions but one was caught after a short chase in the jungle.
After a check they found the suspect to be a 30-year-old man from Jagoi Babang, Indonesia.
All the three motorcycles with fake plate numbers were also seized.
The suspect was detained for attempted theft. He was also found without any document and will be charged under Section 6 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act.
