BAU: The establishment of a One-Stop Centre (OSC), comprising various enforcement agencies, here is aimed at combating drug issues in the district.
Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the drug abuse activities have extended to every village here.
He noted that even students have fallen victims to social issues, coupled with the influence from the wide usage of information technology.
“Police arrest is not enough in curbing social issues,” he said when launching the OSC and Keranji fibre boat at the Tasik Biru Festival yesterday.
The centre, a joint effort by the Bau district office, Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) and other relevant enforcement agencies, hopes to channel relevant information related to drug abuse towards the younger generation.
Henry added that schools and parents should also play an important role in disseminating the effects of drug abuse to the children.
