BINTULU: A total of 23 blood samples from 84 local participants who attended a tabligh religious gathering at Seri Petaling Mosque in Kuala Lumpur were taken for examination.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said he was informed that about 90 participants from Bintulu had attended the event.

Uggah, who is also State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman, stated that a participant tested positive for Covid-19 and is now being quarantined at Bintulu Hospital.

The patient’s family members who had no symptoms of Covid-19 are having their own quarantine at home.

“The State Health Department will monitor and contact them daily to check their progress, and if there are signs or symptoms, they will need to go to the hospital for examination,” he said during a brief working visit to the Covid-19 outbreak quarantine centre in Similajau National Park.

On the Covid-19 outbreak quarantine centre at Similajau National Park, Uggah said it is on standby to receive patients referred to it whenever needed.
