Chinese manufacturer OnePlus is set to unveil its latest flagship smartphone Wednesday, May 16. Before its official launch, the OnePlus 6 will first be available exclusively at selected pop-up stores worldwide from Monday, May 21.
Various online rumours suggest that the OnePlus 6 will be a powerful handset, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and 8GB RAM for the highest-spec model.
The handset’s 6.3-inch OLED screen (1080p) reportedly has a “notch,” as made famous by the iPhone X, and could have a dual camera.
It’s expected to sell for around US$598, and in 128GB and 256GB versions. May 21, around 20 pop-up stores worldwide will sell the OnePlus 6 exclusively to eager fans who can’t wait for its official release.
In the USA, the OnePlus 6 will be available in New York (The Flat NYC) and San Francisco (Contemporary Jewish Museum). In Europe, it will be sold in London (Kachette), Berlin (LNFA), Utrecht (Revenge), Stockholm (Telia Kungsgatan) and Milan (Spazio Velvet), as well as at Parisian concept store “nous,” launched by former Colette employees after the famous store closed its doors at the end of 2017. Various other sales points are planned for India and China.
The phone will be sold on a first come, first serve basis, although OnePlus has not yet said how many smartphones will be available at each pop-up store.
In recent years, OnePlus has become something of a specialist in selling high-end smartphones at rock-bottom prices, compared to major Android handset manufacturers like Samsung and Huawei. More information on the OnePlus 6 global pop-up events is available at www.oneplus.com. – Relaxnews
