MIRI: Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) has managed its own election campaigns without the need for Federal Ministers to come down here, says Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“No Ministers from West Malaysia came here during this campaigns. We managed ourselves, there were only Sarawak Ministers and politicians. But the opposition imported people (politicians) from Pulau Pinang.
“We managed ourselves. We are autonomous because only Sarawak knows (our affairs),” explained Johari yesterday.
Speaking at the earth breaking ceremony for the administration block of Pei Min Middle School, the Chief Minister went on to elaborate on Sarawak’s achievements during his leadership and the leadership of the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem in reclaiming Sarawak’s rights. Asked about the response received so far from supporters during the election campaigns, Johari replied, “Insyallah, the support will be in our favour.”
Johari also touched on the 50 per cent state land premium reduction in resettlement schemes.
For the resettlement schemes, the state government will cover the costs of constructing drains, roads and levelling of sites.
