KUCHING: The Election Commission (EC) is called to open voting centres in big cities for those who are away from their home states.

In stating this, political analyst Dick Lembang Dugun said that this will aid the voters who are unable to come back to vote.

“Or even better, the EC should start introducing online voting for them. It is timely for the EC to move on on these matters,” he said when contacted by the New Sarawak Tribune today.

As the election date was declared to be on Nov 19, he also stated that voters should already plan to go back to their home state to vote.

For that, he advised voters from Sabah and Sarawakian to make use of the discounted tickets on the flight tickets for the East Malaysians.

“As voters, we must remember that it is our responsibility to vote during elections. By voting, you have the right to talk or criticise the government or policies implemented by them.

“So choose the right candidate or political party to form a government,” he added.

As the election is drawing near, Malaysia Airlines will be offering 20 percent discounted fares to facilitate voter movement for the 15th General Elections (GE15).

In a statement on Thursday (Oct 20), it launched the ‘Jom Balik Mengundi’ campaign which would run from Oct 20 to Nov 19 for travel from Nov 11 and Nov 27.

“We will also mount additional 26 flights and upgrade 16 domestic services to wide-body A330 aircraft to accommodate the surge in demand to several routes in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak,” it said.
