LAWAS: The operation to extinguish the burning of trash pile in Lawas Lumberwood Processing Sdn Bhd Factory at Jalan Merapok here is to be continued tomorrow.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation commander, the burning of trash piles and wood over an area of seven acres is still ongoing but the fire is not spreading as the river acts as a fire break.

The operation commander also reported that day two of the extinguishing operation today would have to be postponed and to be continued tomorrow.

Senior Fire Office II Mazrom Ampahom led the operation and supported by six firefighters.

Present at the scene were Assistant Fire Superintendent Zaki Jiki Hussin (Lawas Bomba station chief) and twelve Lawas Lumberwood Processing Sdn Bhd Factory workers.
