KUCHING: Secretary General of SUPP Youth, Milton Foo said that the opposition’s claim of 4,229 army/police votes in the Stampin parliamentary constituency is an old issue.
“The same issue was brought up during the last state election. The law on army/police votes (namely servicemen votes) is very straight
forward.
“Whoever is a resident in a constituency, he or she can register to vote in the constituency where he or she resides, and that
includes army and police personnel who serves in the constituency. The MP for the constituency also represents these servicemen,” he said.
Foo also claimed that DAP is panicking as they have never been paying attention to these servicemen’s welfare in their constituency. The opposition did not do their homework and furthermore the electoral roll is under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission (SPR). Army/police votes exist all this while and there is nothing new.
“Since there are so many DAP MPs in the Parliament, why don’t they bring the issue up in Parliament if they are unhappy or think that it is unfair. Are they sleeping,” Milton asked.
He also told the opposition to lodge a complaint with the SPR if they are not satisfied.
