Ops Khazanah nets illegal logs worth RM20K

The logs are seized after the lorry driver failed to produce documents from the Forest Department.

BINTULU: Marine police seized 86 logs of various species worth more than RM20,000 in an operations dubbed ‘Ops Khazanah’ last Saturday (Feb 6).

Marine Police Region 5 commanding officer ASP Ezuandi Bahadin said its intelligence unit carried out the operations at Batu 28, Bintulu-Miri road.

During the operations, the team stopped a lorry and inspected its content. It was found that all the logs did not have the Sarawak Forest Department (SFD) mark.

The lorry driver, 58, failed to produce any documents issued by SFD Bintulu division and was then arrested.

The seized logs were handed over to SFD Bintulu division for further actions.
