KUCHING: The police are to launch a ten day operation, ‘Ops Lancar’ in conjunction with the Christmas Day and New Year’s Day celebrations.

Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said in a statement that this operation will go on from Dec 24, 2022 to January 2, next year, and is conducted in all districts throughout Sarawak.

“Throughout the ‘Ops Lancar’ operation, 405 police and police traffic officers in the Sarawak Contingent will be involved in ensuring road safety in the state.

“This operation aims to also help with the traffic flow and avoid traffic jams,” he said.

He also pointed out that the police will be focusing on 25 locations which are heavy traffic areas only.

He also urged the public to be safe on the roads especially in the coming festive period.

“I want road users to be more careful and please abide by the traffic rules and speed limit set by the authorities.

“Plan your road journey wisely especially if you are driving long hours, and make sure that your vehicle is safe and in good condition,” he said.
