KUCHING: The Sarawak Immigration Department has arrested 14 individuals of various foreign nationalities for committing various offences in an operation codenamed ‘Ops Sapu’.
 
Acting on complaints and intelligence, the Kuching Immigration Enforcement Unit raided a shared residence at a construction site in Pending on Wednesday (Apr 24).
 
In the early morning raid, the team inspected 19 individuals for their documentations.
 
Of the figure, 14 were taken into custody for committing offences such as overstaying and lacking valid work permits.
 
The case is being investigated under Section 6(1)(C) and Section 15(1)(C) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, as well as Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.
 
The public is advised to report any information regarding the presence of undocumented migrants in their areas through online channels or directly to the nearest Immigration Enforcement Office.
